First introduced in 1915 to accommodate families that wanted more space and privacy, the iconic bungalows at the legendary Beverly Hills Hotel remain an important part of the hotel’s character and have a long history with Hollywood royalty. The hotel recently completed a comprehensive restoration and redesign of 21 of its historic bungalows led by Champalimaud Design, which include distinct legendary bungalows featuring design elements inspired by select notable guests such as Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Howard Hughes, and most recently, Charlie Chaplin.

“We look forward to providing our guests with an enhanced experience that will lovingly highlight the bungalows’ unique features and legendary history with Hollywood and the Beverly Hills community,” says Edward A. Mady, Regional Director, West Coast, USA and General Manager. “Great care has been taken to maintain their beloved features, which include their residential style and privacy, while also allowing us to stay internationally relevant with the next generation of luxury travelers.”

A frequent guest of the hotel, Chaplin’s eclectic and quirky persona comes to life in Bungalow 9, which combines classic design elements and subdued hues with character pieces and movie-palace architecture. An expressive collage of different materials and shapes are interwoven throughout each room, while quiet nods to the entertainer’s English roots reveal themselves through the curation of elegant patterns. Wall-to-wall carpets add cohesion to the space, which includes an open kitchen that is ideal for entertaining.
