Take a Tour of the Howard Hughes Bungalow at The Beverly Hills Hotel
Over the span of 30 years, Billionaire Howard Hughes lived on-and-off at The Beverly Hills Hotel, and was among its most famous residents. The iconic property is in the midst of a historic bungalow restoration program led by Champalimaud Design, and is redesigning 21 bungalows. Five of those are distinct legendary bungalows featuring design elements inspired by select notable guests such as Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, and Charlie Chaplin.
When staying at The Beverly Hills Hotel, Hughes often registered several other bungalows under his name, so that no one would ever know which one he was occupying. He also requested that one of his meals of choice, roast beef sandwiches, be left under a tree outside his bungalow almost every night.
With stormy bold colors, dark stones, and rich exotic woods, the bungalow’s evokes a mysterious and moody feel, while Art Deco references include geometrics and rich sheens, conveying a masculine glamour through the use of glossy leathers, tailored shapes, and blue bedroom walls.
The luxe one-bedroom bungalow suite (2,620 square-feet) includes a living room with dining area, fireplace and half bath; master suite, full master bath and dressing room, and private terrace. The main suite also connects to two adjoining bedrooms. making it a three-bedroom bungalow.
Guests staying in the suite will also enjoy Howard Hughes-themed amenities, including:
Aviation Cocktail Kit featuring Aviation Gin, Crème Yvette liqueur, Lemon Juice, Maraschino Liqueur
Mini Roast Beef Sandwiches inspired by one of Hughes’ meals of choice
A collection of model airplanes located throughout the suite
