Spa Profile: Sea Spa at Loews Coronado Bay Resort

Loews Coronado Bay Resort is perched on a 15-acre peninsula in San Diego County.

Situated on a 15-acre peninsula, Loews Coronado Bay Resort is the ultimate Southern California waterfront oasis. Surrounded by bay waters with stunning views of the San Diego skyline, the hotel offers access to a variety of outdoor activities and water sports, including Loews Private Marina—a collection of 80 slips that will accommodate vessels up to 130 feet in length.

In addition to four restaurants and lounges, as well as three heated pools that can be enjoyed year-round and include a poolside concierge, guests can also enjoy some much-needed relaxation at Sea Spa at Loews Coronado Bay Resort, which takes its inspiration from the sea and offers a menu of luxurious treatments that range from island-inspired body wraps to tropical sea stone massages.

San Diego Spa Guide: The Best San Diego Spas

We interviewed Kristin Palant, Director of Spa at Loews Coronado Bay Resort, to learn more about treatments to try, insider tips, and more.

The private waterfront oasis is surrounded by bay waters and the San Diego skyline.

Why You’ll Love It: Our Spa is unique due to its size, openness of the space, and proximity to the bay. Sea air wafts through the doors and it’s light and bright with soft coastal California touches. Coming out of the pandemic, it’s important for our guests to feel like they can breathe and have fresh air. Also, each of our massage rooms has a sliding glass door that can be opened to let in fresh sea air. It’s almost like getting a treatment outdoors.

The grand lobby welcomes guests upon their arrival at the hotel.

Key Features: We have a private patio with a co-ed Jacuzzi that is large enough to accommodate private parties up to 30 people. Each locker room has its own lounge with steam and sauna. We also have an amazing Vichy shower where we do body scrubs and wraps as well as two couples’ treatment rooms.

The property includes three heated pools that can be enjoyed year-round.

Insider’s Tip: Make sure to bring a swimsuit so that you can spend the day at the resort. Any time a spa treatment is booked, you get access to our pools for the day. We have an amazing poolside restaurant, La Cantina, above the Spa that serves delicious tacos, salads, and cocktails.

Sea Spa at Loews Coronado Bay Resort offers a full menu of luxurious treatments including island-inspired body wraps, energizing facials, tropical sea stone massages, and more.

Bonus: We serve a complimentary glass of bubbly with each Spa treatment, as well as offer a variety of teas and snacks in our relaxation area.

Snacks Served: Teas, champagne, fresh fruit, granola, snack bars, and other rotating items.

Loews Coronado Bay Resort offers a beautiful setting for relaxing.

Splurge Treatment: Yes, we have an amazing facial called the Signature Pacific Facial Ritual. It includes an arm, back, and shoulder exfoliation and massage—and is out of this world. It hits spots that are forgotten and helps to detoxify and release stress.

An assortment of herbs that are used in the hotel’s restaurants dishes are grown in the “Grow” hotel garden, which guests can stroll through.

Unique Treatment: We also have another incredible treatment called Gifts of the Sea that starts with a seaweed scrub in our Vichy shower and ends with a full 50-minute Lomi Lomi massage. I will find people roaming around the halls so relaxed after that one that they cannot find their way back to the Relaxation Lounge.

The hotel also has four restaurants and lounges.

Insider’s Favorite: I would say Gifts of the Sea is very special and frequently requested.

Loews Private Marina has 80 slips to accommodate vessels up to 130 feet in length.

Featured Products: We are currently carrying Ecologica for our body treatments, along with Voya, Skin Authority, and Arcona. We also carry Cause+Medic CBD products. Malie is a lovely organic line from Hawaii that we use in our salon for our manicures and pedicures. The mango nectar scent is out of this world.
