Spa Review: We Tried the Grand Prix Facial at Gregory Dylan Skincare in West Hollywood

Gregory Dylan Skincare is a private skincare studio in West Hollywood, California that is owned by award-winning esthetician Gregory Dylan.

After hearing a friend repeatedly rave about Gregory Dylan and his incredible skincare services, I knew that it was time to book an appointment and experience one of his facials for myself. He offers treatments at his West Hollywood-based studio, Gregory Dylan Skincare, which is conveniently located in the heart of the city and within close proximity to some of the area’s best restaurants, hotels, social clubs like Soho House and San Vicente Bungalows (literally around the corner), and much more.

#BeautyBoss: Gregory Dylan, Award-Winning Esthetician and Founder of Gregory Dylan Skincare

I scheduled my facial on a weekday in the early afternoon, and fortunately I was able to snag a metered parking spot on the street right outside of the building that Dylan’s studio is located in. Prior to my appointment, Dylan emailed me with all of the necessary info that I would need before my visit, and he informed me that there was a paid lot across the street from the studio (as well as a block over) for added convenience.

After I parked, I walked to the side of the building and dialed Dylan from a silver call box located next to the downstairs barbershop. He immediately buzzed me in and I headed up a flight of stairs before reaching the door to his studio. The building he’s located in is very clean, quiet, and secure in order to ensure that clients have a relaxing experience free from any distractions. For celebrities and VIP clients, they can rest assured knowing that they can enjoy their facial in a completely private and safe space out of the public eye.

The beautifully-designed space offers guests a tranquil atmosphere where they can enjoy a high-quality facial in a one-on-one setting with Dylan.

Here’s what you’ll love about Gregory Dylan Skincare:

Dylan uses his products in all of his facials and clients can incorporate them into their at-home skincare regimens so they can continue to improve their skin and maintain their results between treatments.

  • He sees clients at his private skincare studio in the heart of West Hollywood, which is located just minutes from the area’s best restaurants, hotels, social clubs, and more.

  • Dylan’s facial studio is a beautifully designed and intimate space with a single treatment room so clients get his undivided attention during their visit.

  • Dylan also shares a lot of beauty secrets, skincare tips and product reviews on his Instagram (@gregorydylanbeauty), along with his fashionable outfits and adventures from his travels around the world.

  • Virtual consultations are also available via Skye or FaceTime for those who live further away or can’t make it into the studio, and during the session Dylan will look at their skin, listen to their concerns, help establish goals to improve their complexion, as well as review their current skincare routine and offer product and treatment suggestions.

In addition to being an award-winning esthetician and beauty expert, Dylan is also the founder of his own line of skincare products, Gregory Dylan Skincare.

Dylan opened the door and welcomed me into his stunning light-filled studio, which was spacious yet intimate at the same time. From the curtains to the lamps and wall decor, every design detail has been carefully selected by Dylan to create a tranquil and soothing space with just the right pop of color.

We sat down across from each other in a pair of comfortable armchairs to discuss my skin and goals for my treatment. I enjoyed chatting with Dylan, who is very friendly and instantly made me feel at home—even though we had just met, it felt as if I was hanging out with a friend I had known for a long time!

Dylan also has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the beauty industry, skincare products and ingredients. He has been an esthetician for 25 years and has worked with some of the industry’s top brands and retailers like Dr. Dennis Gross, Nordstrom, and Sephora, to name a few.

In 2019 he also launched his own skincare line, Gregory Dylan Skincare, and the products are inspired by the professional treatments he offers as well as his clients’ needs. Fun fact: before finalizing any product, Dylan’s longtime clients test them out and report back on his formulas to ensure the best quality and results! He also categorizes his products by color for different skin concerns such as anti-aging and brightening, and he works one-on-one with a team of chemists and labs that manufacture products for leading beauty brands.

I enjoyed Dylan’s signature treatment, the Grand Prix Facial, in his relaxing coastal-themed treatment room.

After Dylan assessed my skin, he took me back to his treatment room, which featured a beautiful coastal-inspired design with light blue walls and decorative accents. He stepped out so that I could change into a provided spa wrap and headband, then I slipped under the covers of the comfortable treatment bed.

Today I was getting his signature treatment, the Grand Prix Facial. The service lasts around 70 minutes and is the ultimate all-inclusive skincare service, whether you want to try a little bit of everything or your skin is in need of some major TLC. The facial includes an ultrasonic cleansing, extractions, microdermabrasion and Level I exfoliation (a light peel that offers an instant glow with no downtime), custom serums and masks, and an eye treatment.

To top it all off, he also throws in LED light therapy and an oxygen infusion treatment, which helps replenish hydration and skin, plumps it up, and soothes any redness or inflammation. It’s perfect for when you have plans afterwards and want your skin to look its absolute best!

A cute and comfortable Gregory Dylan headband was provided to keep my hair back during my service.

The Grand Prix was incredible and was just what my skin needed—afterwards I looked refreshed, glowing, and my complexion was brighter. One of the things I liked about the facial was that Dylan used an ultrasonic skin scrubber device to perform extractions, which is a gentler way to unclog pores and cleanse skin, minus the discomfort and redness. It’s made of metal and uses high-frequency vibrations via sound waves that help pores open, then the impurities are vibrated and scrubbed away!

I also loved the blast of oxygen at the end of my treatment; it felt cool and refreshing against my skin, and immediately calmed any inflammation so that I was ready for anything—even the red carpet (which is often the case for many of Dylan’s clients).

Dylan also offers a wide range of other treatments including the Couture Facial (a fusion of traditional European cleansing and massage techniques paired with modern exfoliation and replenishment methods), Royal Radiance L.H.E. (to minimize fine lines and wrinkles with concentrated pulses of light and heat), and Just For the “Fill” Of It (featuring the latest Korean technology with a topical application of Scullpla for lines and wrinkles without an injection), among others.

Dylan also sent me home with several of his popular skincare products which are categorized by color for different skin concerns. Daydream Believer ($65) provides skin with a hydrating boost and works to calm inflammation while plumping fine lines and fighting free radicals.

After my service had concluded, Dylan took me over to his product shelf to show me his skincare line and he was even kind enough to gift me a few essentials so that I could maintain my results at home before my next facial.

All of his products feature fun Hollywood-inspired names (Vitamin A-List and Opening Act for example), and a few of his favorite must-haves include C and Be Seen (a vitamin C serum), Daydream Believer (a hydrating gel-creme hybrid), and Eye Slept In (to give tired eyes a boost).

Some of his most recent launches are Velvet Glow (a cooling and texture-enhancing mask) and Dream Sequence, an illuminating beauty oil that rejuvenates skin with a blend of natural oils and extracts; superfoods like acai, blueberry and avocado; and CBD to calm and soothe.

C and Be Seen ($82) smoothes skin texture, softening the appearance of fine lines and reducing dark spots while promoting collagen and providing antioxidant protection.

From the private, one-on-one setting in a beautiful space to the cutting-edge treatments and products, I really enjoyed my experience at Gregory Dylan Skincare. Celebrity or not, Dylan makes every client feel like a true VIP and helps their skin look red carpet-ready.

After my visit, Dylan sent me a friendly follow-up note to check in on how my skin was doing and he also welcomes any feedback so that he can continue to offer the best services. You can tell that he truly cares about each and every one of his clients, and it’s no surprise that many of them have been coming to him for years. I definitely will be booking a follow-up appointment with him and look forward to seeing how my skincare results continue to improve after multiple treatments!

Eye Slept In ($65) gives tired eyes a boost by tightening and de-puffing under-eyes, in addition to minimizing fine lines.
