This week’s Beauty Boss is Shayan Sadrolashrafi, Co-Founder & Chief Creative Officer of wakse—a line of luxurious at-home waxing products. Their visually stunning products are 100% vegan and cruelty-free, and are formulated with calming essential oils for a relaxing, aromatic experience. Designed to make waxing an easy and pleasurable experience, no strips are required—all you do is pour the hard wax beans into a microwave-safe glass or bowl, heat up, apply to skin, then firmly peel off to remove hair!
We recently chatted with Sadrolashrafi, who talked inspiration and innovation, secrets to success, wellness tips, and more:
What inspired the creation of wakse?
it was a "light bulb" moment for Andrew (my co-founder) and me. Having used hard wax before because of medical estheticians in my family, we wanted to reinvent the category and create something that is so beautiful and luxurious that you can’t take your eyes off of it.
How did you come up with the brand name?
I believe in simplicity, so after going through many names, we decided we wanted the name to be similar to the term "waxing"—but with a playful twist.
Tell us more about your line. Do you have a hero product?
To us, waksē is paving the way for the new era of innovative at-home waxing. Using wakse is literally as simple as making a bag of popcorn. If you have a microwave, you are all set! Everyone wants to be the best and at the top in the industry, but Andrew and I plan to be the go-to waxing solution! We consider all of our items "hero" products, as we only release products that are truly amazing. We are working on amazing new innovations in beauty for 2019 that will blow you away—but I can’t really speak about the next year or two in detail.
Where are your products available?
Our products are available on our website. We have a some big retail announcements happening in Spring 2019, but that's all we can say for now!

Who inspires you?
I am personally a big of fan of design, so Jony Ive from Apple is amazing.
Secret to success?
Cheesecake and Starbucks, with a fully loaded-up MacBook Pro in my bag at all times! Two things that have always been the most important to me when it comes to creating are the user experience, and living a clean and healthy lifestyle. My incredible mom and sister are also huge motivators and supporters of me.
Beauty secrets?
I normally get all the beauty secrets from my sister who watches Jeffree Star for tips and tricks, or my amazing business partner, Andrew Glass. I have a favorite serum that is called The Everything Serum by non gender specific.
Wellness tip?
Rest and dedicate time to your family every day.
Best advice?
People say don’t give up—but I say don’t lose your hope, your love, and faith in whatever you are dreaming to do!
