We chatted with Williams who shared her favorite beauty and wellness tips, secrets for success, best advice, and much more.

When was Tubby Todd Bath Co. founded?

Tubby Todd is the namesake of my partner in biz and baby making (aka my husband) Brian Todd Williams. He was the heaviest baby on record in the hospital where he was born (11 pounds) and the nurses nicknamed him “The Moose.”

The name Tubby Todd came to him the first time he had the idea for a natural bath wash for little ones. He called me on the way home from his day job at the time and was like, “Let’s make natural bath products for kids called Tubby Todd.” And I was like, “OK!”

Can you believe it actually worked? We say that to one another like once a week still…haha!

What inspired the creation of the brand?

We created Tubby Todd as a gentle solution for our family’s sensitive skin. For years we struggled with dryness and eczema, and smooth skin always seemed impossibly out of reach. It was frustrating spending money on yet another product that wasn’t helpful, clean or safe for our little ones.

Out of those discouragements came a drive and passion to create our own clean bath products, and we spent years developing and testing them in our own home. We’ve since grown Tubby Todd into an entire line of body care basics with natural extracts that have worked miracles for our family and it has become the solution we had been looking for all those years.

Tubby Todd is all about good, clean fun for the whole family. We created Tubby Todd with sensitive-skinned babies in mind, and each product works hard to nourish, hydrate, and gently soothe skin from head to toe.

Who inspires you?

Both of my parents are authors and entrepreneurs. They are 70 and always learning, creating, and building something. I always tell them to slow down, but they aren’t ever going to listen and I secretly love it because they are so inspiring.

My husband is good to his core and believes in family. His commitment to our family has helped me stay focused on what matters as the brand has grown. People—that is what matters—and specifically our families. He always reminds me of that.

Lastly, I am endlessly inspired by the Tubby Todd families who use our products. They are so good at caring for their little ones. It is a gift to watch them care and sacrifice for their babies.

Secret to success?

So much to learn before I consider it all a success, but the more I can keep my ego in check, the happier I am. I am not always right, but I’m not always wrong. Finding the strength to trust your gut when you know you’re right and to let go of your ego when you want to be right but you aren’t sure—is going to be the fight for the rest of my life, I think.

Wellness tips?

I get a lot of rest. I have four kids and a business, and we are currently remodeling our home. I get at least eight hours of sleep every night and if I don’t, I always get a nap. I meditate before bed, exercise, and don’t eat late at night just so I can sleep well. I don’t have the emotional or mental energy for anyone when I don’t sleep well so I make it my number one goal.

Best advice?

Best business advice: Treat your customers like you treat your friends.

Best marriage advice: Go on lots of dates and make out in the car occasionally.

Best parenting advice: Everything your little one needs is already within you—don’t tear yourself down.

Favorite way to relax?

I’m very into relaxing. I like to binge the same shows over and over again while in my room alone or taking a bath. Right now I’m rewatching anything written by Amy Sherman-Palladino or Mindy Kaling.
