Located on a 400-acre beachfront oasis, the legendary Half Moon resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica, offers breathtaking views, an extensive menu of activities, and an award-winning spa. At Fern Tree Spa, guests enjoy tropical gardens, overwater cabanas and spa services that incorporate local traditions and ingredients. Our insider at Half Moon shares tips to help you get the most out of Fern Tree Spa.
Key Features: The award-winning Fern Tree spa offers aromatherapy steam and sauna rooms, Fern Tree falls and lagoon pools, locker rooms, an outdoor yoga pavilion, relaxation lounge, tea room, gardens, meditation labyrinth, and 12 treatment rooms including two overwater bungalows.
Local Traditions: Jamaicans have long used local herbs, leaves and roots for their healing properties. Indigenous ingredients and local traditions play an integral role in the Fern Tree Spa experience. For example, our gardens are dotted with fragrant fruit trees like soursop and cerasee, and guests are served tea made from traditional herbs/leaves such as lemongrass, which is grown in our garden. We have a traditional Jamaican Bush Bath steeped with fresh herbs, roots, leaves and fruits, and our signature massage is finished with a rum body splash that is not to be missed.
Spa Snacks: Maintaining the holistic theme, our guests can delight in fruit or herb-flavored water, such as orange. We also offer a variety of teas, smoothies and juice shots. Alternatively, guests can also enjoy a private meal of their choosing in our private spa cottage. This menu is normally specially curated to the guest's preferences.
Resort Cuisine: Half Moon’s talented chefs will take you on a one-of-a-kind culinary journey. Experience the best of modern Jamaican cuisine, which tells the story of the traditions of farmers and fisher folk from the countryside. Explore authentic Italian cuisine inspired by imagination. Savor freshness, organic and seasonal ingredients. Our signature restaurant, The Sugar Mill, boasts views of the lush tropical landscape in which sits a historic water wheel of the former Rose Hall Sugar Plantation.
Wellness Activities: Our wellness options include meaningful experiences like outdoor yoga or Pilates, and guided meditation. Guests can also enjoy our fully-equipped fitness center complete with a certified spinning studio and unique activities such as swimming with horses through our world-class equestrian center. While these activities are offered year-round, this July and August, complimentary golf lessons and discounted lessons of tennis, scuba diving, horseback riding, hobie cat sailing and swimming are on offer.
Seasonal Experiences: June is the month for complimentary spa and wellness. Experiences include meditation and sunrise yoga, relaxing body exfoliations, and sessions covering the secrets of maintaining youthful skin and the nutritional benefits of juicing. Guests will be able to relax and take in the Jamaican sun while still caring for their skin.
Splurge Treatment: Our Magic Moments package is a romantic spa journey that begins with a relaxing coconut oil-infused couple’s massage followed by a soothing soak in our secluded garden. The 90-minute experience is offered at $450 and is a luxurious way for couples to reconnect.
Insider Favorite: The Soothing Caribbean Journey is our unique couple’s massage in which couples can experience our overwater cabana that rests over the Caribbean. Guests can be lulled to sleep while listening to waves gently crashing against the rocks during their massage and take advantage of the beautiful views of the open cabana. This 60-minute treatment with a truly stunning view is priced at $405.
