The Joule has a 24-hour Fitness Center on the ninth floor for hotel guests that is outfitted with aerobic equipment, strength-training machines, weights, wellness balls and yoga mats. The hotel is also home to The Spa at The Joule, a Forbes Four-Star Spa that draws inspiration from geothermal energy. The Spa offers a journey of European heat experiences, high-performance skincare treatments, and restorative body rituals.

We interviewed Allison Bevan, The Joule Spa Manager, to learn more about treatments to try, insider tips, and more.

Why You’ll Love It: Guests love that they can truly escape from reality when at our spa. The subterranean atmosphere encourages them to unplug and feel disconnected from the world, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the spa. Of course, they also love the luxury services we offer.

Equally voyeuristic for those swimming or those standing on the street below, The Joule’s pool gives the term “hanging out by the pool” a whole new meaning.

Key Features: The Spa at The Joule features an array of amenities for guests including European heat experiences like a crystal steam room with eucalyptus dry sauna, as well as a co-ed heated vitality pool with hydrotherapy spa jets, a rainfall shower experience, and men’s and women’s relaxation rooms complete with house made pastries, herbal tea, light-reading material, couches, lounge chairs, and more.

The Joule also has a 24-hour fitness center on the ninth floor and a luxurious a Forbes Four-Star Spa.

Snacks Served: We offer a selection of house made snacks including homemade cookies, granola, fruit, and complimentary beverages. Additionally, for those looking for a bit more, our onsite restaurant CBD Provisions has an abbreviated menu available for the spa.

Insider’s Tip: With each service, guests receive access to the facility for an hour prior and an hour after your service. When booking an appointment, make sure to choose a day/time where you can fully take advantage of this offering. Taking an hour before and after allows your body to prepare for the treatment, the after portion being especially important. I think lots of people forget that to really let the treatment take full effect you need to continue to relax after—sitting in the relaxation rooms allows the treatment to fully settle and give guests the best results.

Bonus: We really place an emphasis on creating elevated experiences for every guest. Each service is completely personalized based on a guest's needs with zero additional fees, allowing us to focus on individual concerns. Additionally, the spa offers a complimentary glass of champagne, rosé or soft drink, house-made pastries in the relaxation rooms, as well as complimentary car service within a three-mile radius, providing a door-to-door experience.

Among the spa’s amenities is a dry sauna.

Splurge Treatment: Currently my biggest recommendation would be the Elite Facial using Oxylight technology. This treatment uses ultrasound therapy to lift muscles and help product infuse into the skin followed by microdermabrasion, which removes the thicker and uneven outer layer of the skin to reveal healthy fresh skin underneath. This treatment ends with an LED light therapy to soothe and refresh skin.

Unique Treatment: The most unique treatment and one of my personal favorites is the three-hour Time Signature Therapy. I think this is an incredibly unique offering because it allows guests to customize three hours of treatment with a therapist to address every concern a guest may have. Prior to the treatment, guests can select a lunch from the spa menu that will be ready for them once their service is complete.

Insider’s Favorite: The Second Skin Facial. We know skin care and maintenance is an important part of people's self care routine and this is a great way to instantly refresh skin without fillers. This regenerating and lifting facial utilizes revolutionary electrospun hyaluronic acid patches. Customized to fit the face, the patches are strategically applied to targeted areas. The treatment is known for its immediate ability to plump and hydrate the skin and visibly treat wrinkles.
