Spa Profile: Squeeze
Created by the founders of Drybar, Squeeze opened its doors on March 22, 2019 and offers guests quality massages in a relaxing environment at reasonable rates. Frustrated by the lack of good options available, the team set out to design an establishment that didn’t have awkward checkout counters or overpriced massages, and were easy to book.
Located in Studio City, California, the first Squeeze storefront has been a huge success and the brand is looking to expand to more places in order to make affordable massages more accessible to everyone. From offering guests the ability to choose their own therapist, as well as a convenient app for booking, paying, and tipping—Squeeze makes the entire process of getting a massage simple and easy. We chatted with Brittany Driscoll, Co-Founder and CEO of Squeeze, who shared special amenities, bonuses, insider tips, and more:
The Inspiration: Similar to Drybar, Squeeze was created out of a personal necessity. There are currently two limited options to choose from when getting a massage: affordable discount chains offering subpar customer experiences or high-end spas and hotels charging over $250 for a massage, making a routine experience unattainable for most. As avid massage goers frustrated with the current options, we created the brand and experience we each longed for and believe is missing from the marketplace.
Why You’ll Love It: Guest feedback has been truly humbling. While we've had positive reviews on many aspects of our experience, including our amazing massage therapists and beautiful space, I would say the thing our guests love the most about Squeeze is the ability to personalize every aspect of the experience— from massage preferences to in-suite settings. And that they just float on out after their experience and rate and tip at their leisure, which really allows for a truly relaxing and stressless experience.
Key Features: Squeeze offers a convenient, personalized, and quality experience. Many of the key aspects of the concept solve for the clunkiness that exists across the industry—having to call individual locations for appointments, waiting in long checkout lines, or dealing with clunky transactional processes and awkward in-person exchanges. We created a completely stressless experience by allowing guests to book, pay, tip, rate and review through our app at their leisure so that when you're in the shop, you have a truly relaxing time.
We've also incorporated the ability to adjust the lighting, temperature, and music in our suites, as well as a "ready" button on the table for the guest to notify the therapist when they're ready to have them re-enter after getting undressed and onto the table. We really tried to think of all of the little moments in the experience that could be improved, and implemented things we felt people would really appreciate and enjoy.
Services Offered: Squeeze offers a Mini-Squeeze (20-minute chair massage), a Mid-Squeeze (50-minute table massage), and Main-Squeeze (80-minute table massage). At Squeeze, extras don't cost extra. Our pricing is all inclusive with your choice of deep tissue, aromatherapy, and heat therapy.
Snacks Served: We offer spa water, tea, and raw almonds in our lounge to enjoy before or after your service.
Insider’s Tip: We have parking in the back! And we also have Drybar products in our restrooms for a quick touch-up post-massage.
Bonus: In addition to providing water post-massage which is important to replenish and hydrate the body, we offer chilled grapes in a cup that reads, "Have a grape day." It's meant to refresh and revitalize you as you reenter the outside world, and also leaves you with a feel-good touch.
