Listed in the top 100 remarkable water sources of Japan, spring water in Niseko is among the purest in the nation. In 1954, the Showa Emperor tasted the cold spring water during a visit to Hokkaido and proclaimed it as “Kanro” or “sweet dew.” Since then, the spring water in the area is known as “Kanrosui” and became a household name for the exquisite water and as a memorial of the royal visit.

Mount Yotei is the reason that makes Niseko’s spring water so unique. It takes between 50 and 100 years for snowmelt to naturally filter through the majestic mountain by steadily seeping into the ground and entering underground streams before eventually emerging in one of the springs throughout Niseko. An astonishing 530,000 tons of water gush out of springs surrounding the mountain’s base daily, becoming a source of rejuvenation for the people.

Unique Treatment: Nature’s Wisdom is a stone treatment using black silica, which can only be found in Kaminokuni, Hokkaido. Silica has a high healing effect and has been used by Ainu people for amulets and treatments since ancient times. A hand massage that warms the body, eases stiffness and pain, and gently relieves fatigue of the whole body is combined with a facial treatment using nutritious hot spring water to soothe and soften the sensitive skin.
