Spa Review: We Tried Energy Mapping and Sound Therapy at Purify Wellness Center

The entrance to Purify Wellness Center in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

Before the holidays hit, I planned an evening of relaxation and zen at Purify Wellness Center in Pleasant Grove, Utah. For the last couple of years I’ve heard rave reviews about the center’s salt cave and yoga services and have been dying to make the trip to Utah County to experience it for myself! While planning the visit, I was blown away by their menu offerings including massage therapy, foot zoning, sound therapy, energy mapping and more.

Spa Profile: Purify Wellness Center

Purify Wellness Center is known for their group offerings with ample space in their yoga studios and salt cave so I planned a must-needed girl’s night—booking an energy reading for myself and two of my best friends, followed by a sound therapy service in the salt cave with a larger group of friends.

Walking into Purify Wellness Center, I noticed the facility was clean and inviting with a welcoming feel. We were instantly greeted and invited to join the owner, Holly Draper, in her office for our energy mapping service. Energy mapping was a first for my guests and myself alike and Draper guided us through it, expertly explaining each step together.

Here’s what you’ll love about Purify Wellness Center:

  • Utah’s largest yoga studio with unheated and infrared hot options

  • Himalayan salt cave filled with 16 tons of salt

  • Light and sound therapy treatments

  • Massage, foot zoning, energy mapping, aromatherapy and body composition services

  • Community events, workshops and retreats

  • Packages and membership options available allowing cost savings and the ability to try a variety services

All smiles during my energy mapping session.

Draper went through each color displayed on our individual aura reading, the organ levels within the body scan and detailed guidance on our unique chakras. Each reading was approximately 20 minutes long and included take-home literature and suggestions on how to improve health and wellness per each reading.

I learned so much during the experience! I especially appreciated doing this with my close friends because they could see truths and aspects in a poignant way from shared experience and relationship depth. Our readings brought laughs, head nods, and even some (happy) tears!

All of the blue seen in my aura is related to expression and communication—right on brand for a writer and reporter!

Next up, a sound bath session in Purify’s sought-after Himalayan salt cave! A few more of my girl gang had arrived by then and we made our way into the calming cave where zero-gravity chairs were waiting for us along with a slew of instruments on display.

Prior to our appointment, we were instructed to wear comfortable clothing, bring a blanket, and remove our shoes before entering. I loved the feeling of salt between my toes and could smell the crisp salt purifying the air around me. Salt bricks lined the walls bring a calming energy with a gorgeous Tree of Life mosaic in the center and twinkling stars shining on the ceiling.

Up to 12 guests can relax in zero-gravity chairs and experience Purify Wellness Center’s sound bath within the salt cave.

The cave is made up of 16 tons of Himalaya salt and provides numerous health and wellness benefits by simply sitting and breathing in the goodness within its walls. Salt therapy is believed to improve respiratory issues, allergies, circulation, skin issues, cell regeneration and a strengthening of the immune system thanks to its absorbent, anti-bacterial properties. During a salt cave session at Purify Wellness Center, microscopic pure dry salt particles are pumped into the air, further adding to the benefits.

The Benefits of Halotherapy

Once we were reclined and snuggled beneath our blankets, the real relaxation began in the form of a 50-minute sound bath. Draper used a myriad of instruments including drums and gongs played strategically around the room. This was my first sound bath/sound therapy experience and I found it completely relaxing, inducing a deep meditative state—something that doesn’t come easily for my type-A personality.

The vibrations and sounds were experienced throughout my body in relaxing harmonies and rhythms. Draper played certain tones and frequencies designed to relax a stressed mind and trigger both emotional and physical release. Difficult to describe without experiencing it firsthand I can confidently say I enjoyed it and am eager to try it again!

I concluded my time a Purify Wellness Center with a tour of the facility, seeing treatment rooms and two expansive yoga studios (Utah’s largest!) A full schedule of both unheated and hot yoga (infrared heat) are offered throughout the week with special membership rates and offers for yogis serious about incorporating a wellness lifestyle. We browsed the retail shelves where wellness favorites like Purify Skin Therapy and Just Ingredients are sold.

My group and I emerged de-stressed and rejuvenated from the sounds both heard and felt, and the purification felt from experiencing it inside the salt cave.

A couple hours at Purify Wellness Center and I did not want my time there to end! It was a wonderful night and could not have been a better backdrop for a wellness girl’s night out experience. I appreciate the invite and can’t wait for my next visit.
