Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese Introduces Yoga Around Rome

Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese is offering yoga classes to acquaint tourists with hidden gems of the city.

Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese, a hotel located in the heart of Rome, recently introduced “Yoga Around Rome,” where tourists can discover hidden places in the city while seeking calm.

The luxury property, owned and operated by AccorInvest, brings French elegance to Italian history. However, now new discoveries are being made with the hotel’s offering of “Yoga Around Rome.” With 90-minute Hatha yoga classes being offered around the city, guests and the public can explore new places while keeping healthy.

“We want our guests to be able to have a memorable, immersive experience in iconic locations,” said Edoardo Giuntoli, General Manager of Sofitel Rome Villa Borghese. “With that, fall is a great time for this offering as the weather is ideal. It’s time to think more about soul well-being than ever before.”

The locations of the Hatha yoga classes are both in tourist-savvy destinations and hidden gems around Rome. Villa Borghese and Giardino degli Aranci (the Orange Trees Garden) are more well-known locations. Villa Borghese is considered to be Rome’s largest public park, surrounded by museums, historic buildings, a gallery, and more. The Giardino degli Aranci is a beautiful garden with views of the city.

Some of the hidden gems of Sofitel Villa Borghese’s hatha yoga classes are located at Villa Torlonia, Villa Ada, and Villa Doria Pamphili. Villa Torlonia is a park of fascination with its English-style gardens. They initially belonged to Giovanni Torlonia, who purchased the villa upon gaining his status of Marchese. Torlonia commissioned Giuseppe Valadier to have his living space the same standards as other noble families in Rome.

Villa Ada shares the history of Roman royalty, but is also known for being a green lung of Rome. The park has diverse landscapes of hilly grasslands and flora and fauna representing its history. Aside from royalty, Villa Ada is home to “Rome Meets the World” music festival, the Egyptian Republic Embassy and Consulate, and more. Villa Doria Pamphili is a park located outside the ancient walls of Rome. All of these parks are quiet and near the hotel.

“The spots chosen for this activity are places visitors might not see if it were not for this, hidden gems,” Giuntoli said.

If you would like to just stay in your suite for yoga, that can also be arranged. Guests can request classes on their suite’s terrace, which offers views of St. Peter's Basilica and the Borghese Gardens.

The yoga classes are led by Barbara Capriotti, who has been practicing for over 20 years. Through studying holistic naturopathy and plantar reflexology, Capriotti has dedicated herself to the profession. Through her work, Capriotti strives to help people find innate abilities of self-healing and rebalance their psycho-physical-emotional system.

Hatha yoga is designed to bring a variety of solutions with its work in breathing, meditation, and yoga poses. The classes are tailored to different levels depending on the guest and mats are spaced away to maintain distance to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Capriotti is also fully vaccinated.
