Mojave Desert Skin Shield Opens New Wellness Studio in Downtown Palm Springs

Mojave Desert Skin Shield’s new wellness space in downtown Palm Springs will offer bespoke wellness sessions like sound baths in HigherDose infrared sauna blankets, a signature organic Fascial™ and more.

Patricia Vernhes, founder and formulator of Mojave Desert Skin Shield (MDSS) products and Mojave Desert Skin Shield Wellbeing Space, recently opened a second wellness studio in downtown Palm Springs. Her first space in Pioneertown, California, opened in 2021 and is located in a renovated 1969 40’ Spartan that offers 360-degree views of the desert.

Situated on clay and volcanic rock land on a 20-acre property overlooking ancient boulders, MDSS Wellbeing Space in Pioneertown includes a shaded 400-square-foot outdoor deck with a sunken bathtub and 22 binaurally tuned bowls.

"We had so many clients coming from Palm Springs, it made sense to open a studio space there, where we could offer shorter (60 to 90-minute) sessions, " says Vernhes. "Our Pioneertown space is more of a destination, where we often host small groups for our full-day wellness journeys.”

At the new space, Vernhes will offer bespoke wellness sessions like sound baths in HigherDose infrared sauna blankets, and a signature organic Fascial™, a 90-minute facial targeting the fascia, boosted with the Lyma Laser.

“Using this most state-of the-art red light therapy is a natural extension of working with healing frequencies like the quartz sound bowls,” says Vernhes.

Founder Patricia Vernhes opened the first MDSS Wellbeing Space in Pioneertown, California in 2021.

Vernhes also incorporates her biodynamic, climate-adaptive line of self-care products into the treatments along with custom-made formulas and elements according to guests’ specific needs.
