Facial Treatment Review: We Tried the Oxylight Facial at Hotel Bel-Air Spa

The entrance to Hotel Bel-Air.

After making the mistake of trying out a new skincare product with harsh ingredients that proved to be too much for my skin to handle, I was left with angry skin that was tight, dry, and flaking. But instead of hiding my face at home while waiting patiently for my skin barrier to repair itself, I headed to one of my favorite places, Hotel Bel-Air Spa, to try the Oxylight Facial, which was recently added to their treatment menu.

Spa Profile: Hotel Bel-Air Spa

The innovative facial combines five powerful modalities—LED, microcurrent, oxygen, resurfacing, and ultrasound—to transform skin in just one session. Benefits include more even skin tone, tighter skin, smoother texture, and less visible pores. The facial works on a cellular level to improve skin not just on the surface but deep in the layers underneath, providing the necessary moisture, nutrients, and protection to maintain and improve appearance and health.

Facial Treatment Review: We Tried Hotel Bel-Air Spa’s Bee-Inspired Facial By Valmont

Celebrities like Madonna and Kim Kardashian are reportedly big fans of the Oxylight Facial and get it prior to red carpet events. It’s only available at exclusive hotels like The Carlyle and Hotel Bel-Air and select esthetician’s studios. At Hotel Bel-Air Spa, the facial also incorporates products from Swiss luxury skincare brand Valmont, which is known for its innovative ingredients, formulas, and products.

Having had various Valmont facials in the past, including their Elixir des Glaciers Majestic Treatment (which is inspired by the essence of ingredients from the bee hive) that left my skin looking amazing afterwards for weeks (not days, weeks!), I knew I was going to be impressed by the Oxylight Facial.

Prior to my treatment, I enjoyed quiet time in the spa’s relaxation lounge.

Here’s what you’ll love about the Oxylight Facial:

  • It’s a powerful 5-in-1 treatment that incorporates multiple modalities including LED light therapy with negative ionization, microcurrent, oxygen, resurfacing, and ultrasound.

  • The Oxylight Facial transforms skin in just one session with impressive results such as more even skin tone, tighter skin, smoother texture, less visible pores, and a reduction in redness and inflammation.

  • It works on a cellular level to improve skin not only on the surface, but deep underneath to maintain and improve appearance and health by providing essential moisture, nutrients, and protection.

  • It features the only machine, the IonixLight, that exposes skin to LED light therapy and oxygen simultaneously to improve skin’s appearance.

  • Despite all of the different modalities featured in the treatment, the Oxylight Facial is non-invasive, has zero downtime or discomfort, and leaves skin looking amazing afterwards.

  • Products from luxury Swiss skincare brand Valmont are incorporated into the facial including the Regenerating Mask Treatment, which infuses skin with reparative medical-grade collagen.

  • The facial is only available at exclusive hotels like Hotel Bel-Air and The Carlyle as well as at select esthetician’s studios.

  • Celebrities including Madonna and Kim Kardashian are big fans of the Oxylight Facial and often have it done prior to red carpet events for the ultimate skin glow.

The Oxylight Facial is designed to transform skin in one session with benefits that include tighter skin, smoother texture, even tone, and less visible pores.

After arriving at the spa and changing into a robe, I enjoyed some quiet time in the relaxation lounge until my esthetician Emily came to get me. She’s worked at Hotel Bel-Air Spa for many years and is incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to innovative facial treatments and modalities, as well as the entire Valmont product line.

She seemed especially excited about the Oxylight Facial and after I explained to her what was going on with my skin, she assured me that I was going to be very pleased with the results.

After double-cleansing my skin (which include a relaxing cleansing massage), Emily gently sloughed away dead skin cells with diamond microdermabrasion. This helps to smooth the skin’s surface and allows the various products used in the treatment to penetrate more effectively. I enjoyed the sensation as she buffed away the top layer of dead skin, knowing that it would help reveal brighter skin underneath.

The multi-modality facial includes LED, microcurrent, oxygen, resurfacing, and ultrasound.

She performed ultrasound therapy after applying a nourishing serum to my skin in order to help the products penetrate deeper, to stimulate collagen production, and to encourage lymphatic flow. This was followed by the microcurrent, which emitted gentle electrical currents into my skin to gently sculpt the facial muscles while tightening and firming them. Emily said that results can be seen after just one treatment, but with multiple treatments her clients notice long-lasting results.

My favorite part of the facial was the LED light panel with negative ionization and oxygen infusion, which happened simultaneously after Valmont’s Regenerating Mask Treatment had been applied to my skin. The Regenerating Mask Treatment infuses skin with medical-grade collagen and helps calm irritation and redness, smooth wrinkles and fine lines, and intensely hydrates, soothes, and plumps skin—all of which I needed.

The mask paired with the LED lights and pure oxygen felt cooling and refreshing against my skin, and I was wearing protective goggles to shield my eyes from the brightness of the lights. The IonixLight is the only machine that exposes skin to LED light therapy and oxygen at the same time to improve skin’s appearance.

LED light therapy has many benefits including reducing inflammation, brightening skin, decreasing fine lines, and stimulating production of healthy skin cells. Oxygen therapy can instantly calm breakouts because acne-causing bacteria can’t survive when oxygen is present. The negative ions are emitted through a relaxing mist that helps to soothe skin while also aiding in product penetration.

My skin was infused with oxygen as I was lying under the LED light panel with Valmont’s Regenerating Mask Treatment.

My treatment concluded with Emily applying a combination of essences, serums, and creams from Valmont to my skin for a hydrating and luxurious finish. When applying them, she incorporated Valmont’s signature “butterfly” technique, which consists of delicate hand movements and effleurage techniques that target certain areas on the face, neck, and chest to stimulate circulation and lymphatic drainage.

She held up a mirror so that I could see what my post-facial skin looked like. All of the redness and irritation was gone, and my complexion appeared brighter and had a refreshed glow to it. I was very happy with my results and would rate the Oxylight Facial as one of the best facials I’ve ever received. It’s absolutely worth it if you want an instant glow-up before a special event or if your skin is in trouble (like mine was) and you need a fast fix.

While all of the modalities are available individually and can be added to any facial, you’re going to get the maximum benefits and most noticeable results by combining them together. After all, why pick just one when you can have them all?

I highly recommend booking the Oxylight Facial next time you visit Hotel Bel-Air Spa, and if you’re able to request Emily as your esthetician, I guarantee you’ll be delighted with the experience and results.

After the 90-minute treatment my skin was visibly softer, smoother, and more hydrated!
