Pets are an important part of our lives and provide companionship, emotional support, and are sources of unconditional love. Our furry, four-legged friends are family members (and in many cases, our children), which is why it’s essential to take care of their wellness so they can live long, healthy lives.

Aside from a good diet and making sure they’re up to date on all their shots and wellness exams, another important aspect of pet health is using the best products that have clean and good-quality ingredients. Skout’s Honor is an award-winning line of clean pet care and probiotic grooming products that was founded by Macon Brock and Pete Stirling to improve the experience of living with and loving our pets.

Cute Animal Live Cams to Watch for Calm and Relaxation

“At heart, my partner and myself are surfers and dog lovers, both of which provide a unique perspective on how human interaction with the environment and animals can have a big impact,” says Stirling. “We chose to make ours a positive one and our timing could not have been better. The California Green Chemistry initiative was the catalyst for some really amazing advances in green cleaning technology and presented us with the opportunity to create earth-friendly products that were vastly superior to the traditional chemical cleaners they were designed to replace.”

All of Skout’s Honor products are non-toxic, rapidly biodegradable, eco-friendly, and free of harsh chemicals, making them safe to use around your pets, family, and home. Their Probiotic Grooming line is scientifically proven utilizing beneficial bacteria to address the root issues pets face with their skin and coat ranging from itchy, dry skin to hot spots and ringworm.

Giving back to the animal community is also important to the company, and every purchase of a Skout’s Honor product provides a day’s worth of meals for a rescue animal in need. They also partner with Rescue Bank, who handles all distribution and logistics to get food to animals in need.

The Best Probiotic Skincare Products

“We launched in 2016 at one of the top pet industry trade shows with a green-cleaning line and things just really took off from there,” adds Stirling. “We introduced the Skout’s Paw Pledge that same year, which has currently helped provide over 6.5 million meals to animals in need. Our mission has always been to improve the lives of pets and their people, so it makes me very happy to find success doing just that.”

We chatted with Stirling, who shared the inspiration behind the line, what’s next for the brand, and more.

When was Skout’s Honor founded and what’s the meaning behind the name?

Tell us more about your products and what makes them special.

Our product philosophy has always been rooted in the concept that prevention is the best way to promote peace and harmony in our lives, environment, and the relationship we have with our furry family members. Whether we cut down on the environmental impact of a product or cultivate live colony-forming units of topical probiotics to help prevent common pet skin issues, each product represents the best possible solution to the problems that can come between pet parents and getting the most quality time with their pet. We are very technology-driven, so if we find something that is really cool and effective, we go all in.

Do you have a hero product? What’s your favorite?

Our 2 in 1 Probiotic Shampoo Plus Conditioner has proven time and time again to be the hero product for us. Utilizing our probiotic technology by naturally balancing the bacteria that often causes common skin issues in pets like hotspots, dryness, inflammation, yeast, and even ringworm, while remaining drug-free, environmentally safe, and scientifically proven to be effective. Similar to those in the beauty industry helping with acne, rosacea, blemishes, and more. We use beneficial bacteria to balance the microbiome (the skin) to displace the bad bacteria that causes such discomfort. This product has easily become my favorite for many reasons but what stands out to me the most is I use it everyday…on myself.
