Behind the Brand: Celebrity Massage Therapist Megan Blackwell Shares Her Journey to Launching Beso Wellness

After witnessing firsthand the pain that athletes can experience due to years of wear and tear on their bodies, celebrity massage therapist, Megan Blackwell, wanted to help offer a solution. Her journey and interest in the healing properties of various ingredients, led her to CBD, and she launched Beso Wellness in 2018.

Beso Wellness, is more than just a line of all-natural cannabis-infused products, it’s an extension of Blackwell’s life experiences. "Everything you can find in my products is basically from where I live; the products are my journey," she says.

Blackwell has introduced Beso Wellness products and services to her celebrity clients including Janet Jackson, Ty Dolla Sign, Miguel, Michael B. Jordan, Zoe Saldana, Michael Johnson, Lou Williams, Javale McGee, Micheal Beasly, and more. Now, we’re spilling the celebrity secret.

We caught up with the Beso Wellness Founder Megan Blackwell to learn more about the story behind the brand:

Can you share a little bit about your journey in the industry and what led you to launch Beso Wellness?

I’ve done purpose driven work around the world for years. I was also married to a pro athlete. I saw firsthand how he and his NBA teammates did a number on their bodies through their work.

My children went on to play sports as well. Intention is everything. As a massage therapist and a facilitator of healing, it was important for me to create a solution for pain management for those reasons.

Along the way, I’ve learned that people often suffer from lack of sleep and inflammation. Through trial and error, trying hundreds of natural ingredients from my travels, and a myriad of cannabis formulas, I arrived at Beso Wellness.

The first formulation was a smooth and buttery topical that caressed the skin, helping with inflammation to almost instantly take away pain by relaxing the muscles. It was much like a kiss from Earth: a perfect blend of natural love. That train of thought is literally how I came up with the slogan once the formula was finalized. All ingredients are straight out of the earth (a kiss)!

The line targets mind body spirit rejuvenation with intent, while aiding in amazing sleep. As an extra benefit, massage therapists that massage their clients with it also feel relief because Beso provides healing for their hands while they heal. Healing the healers!

Beso Wellness Earth’s Kiss

Do you have a signature product?

Yes. The Beso Therapeutic Whip ($60) is the signature product. It is the ultimate pain reliever. The ingredients are spiritually sourced and emotionally driven. I lived in the places that I chose my ingredients based on what resonated with me when I lived in those places.

I sourced ingredients that natives ceremonially implemented in their healing rituals. Turmeric from India, frankincense and myrrh from Egypt, black seed oil from Alexandria, and other ingredients derived from the most magical places on earth.

Other than Beso what are your top wellness secrets?

I find that it is exceptionally important to shut the mind down at least once a day. I implement this practice through daily meditation and plenty of periodic breath work.

I rely on healers that can raise natural energy through vibrations, the highest of which is love. There is no secret to wellness; it is simply to be well.

Skincare secrets?

At 55, I love to hear people ask my age. I attribute that confidence to a skincare routine that consists of regular sleep, moisturizing, massage, and of course a soak in natural mineral springs occasionally.

What are your favorite ways to relax?

I enjoy unwinding with a flute session with my family. As a child I fell in love with the flute, and it invoked a strong passion from me to understand healing through sound and sensory activation. It is still my favorite way to relax.

What should we watch out for next?

The future is in Cannaspas. Incorporating wellness through a cacophony of healing aspects, cannaspas will focus on full body healing through sound and sensory experiences including topical applications and other forms of natural medicine.
