Fun fact: I’m half-Japanese and my middle name is Kimiko. According to the Internet, Kimiko has various meanings, including “valuable” and “beautiful.” I’ve always loved the name and its connection to my Japanese heritage. So when I found out that celebrity makeup artist Danielle Kimiko Vincent developed a revolutionary new makeup line called KIMIKO Beauty, I knew I had to try it. She also started the brand, and in doing so created an entirely new category of beauty, Treatment Makeup, with the benefits of skincare in every product.

“My philosophy is that you can do more with less when you have the right products. Makeup should reveal instead of mask the beauty within.” —Danielle Kimiko Vincent

Here’s what I tried:

KIMIKO Beauty Hydrating Tint SPF 20, Lifting Pressed Powder and Super Fine Eyebrow Pencil Automatique.

KIMIKO Beauty Hydrating Tint SPF 20, Lifting Pressed Powder and Super Fine Eyebrow Pencil Automatique.

Hydrating Tint SPF 20 in Sapporo Sand ($43)

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of heavy, full-coverage foundation. This is the exact opposite. Its water-based formula glides on effortlessly and gives skin a velvety finish. The coverage is light to medium but definitely buildable. If you’re looking for a more matte finish, I would recommend setting it with powder. This product is perfect for more mature skin but can be used by anyone.

I used my fingers, but you can also apply with a brush or sponge. I’m big on packaging—the tube is hassle- and mess-free. I always use sunscreen on my face, so the SPF 20 is an added bonus. This has quickly become one of my holy grail products and a staple in my makeup routine.

Lifting Pressed Powder in Milk Tea ($42)

This triple-milled powder can be used alone or to set the Hydrating Tint. I’ve been known to use it on “no makeup” makeup days when I have less than five minutes and just want something to even out my skin and reduce shine. With collagen and elastin, it’s good for your skin and offers anti-aging benefits. If you’re looking to up your game and incorporate some skin care-infused products into your routine—this is definitely worth a try.

Super Fine Eyebrow Pencil in Coffee ($27)

This is the star of the show. Hands-down, best brow product I’ve used in a long time—nd I’ve used a lot of brow products in my life. True story: When I finished this, I immediately went to the store and bought two more so that I would never be without—it’s that good. The tip is super fine and allows you to create the perfect feathery brow. The formula is long-lasting without being oily or heavy. And no brow pencil is complete without a brush on the end: the spoolie allows you to tame your brows and blend for a seamless look. The color is perfect—not too gray or red.

All in all, even though I’m secretly annoyed that my idea for having a makeup line named KIMIKO is taken, I have to admit that I'm a huge fan. And I can’t wait to try more of what the brand has to offer!

All the products are available online and can be found at kimikobeauty.com.

Note: All products were purchased with my own money. Nothing was sent to me for review purposes.
