We Joined The Staycation Series for a Spring Wellness Retreat
Let’s face it: Sometimes it can be hard to find the time for self-care or even feel like we deserve it. We may think that we’re too busy and that if we only accomplished one more thing, then we could reward ourselves. It can also be easy to get caught up in the social media world of comparison, leading to negative self-talk. Reasons like this are exactly the why it’s important to take time to unplug, be intentional, and find balance.
Earlier this month, we joined The Staycation Series for a mini-wellness retreat at Unplug Meditation in West Hollywood, California. The day was all about empowerment and stepping away from negativity with meaningful conversation and activities.
After meeting our hosts, we worked out with The Studio MDR led by Mary Miller and Yumi Sugai. The class was a great way to get energized for the day ahead, and it kicked our butts! We worked up an appetite, so after the session it was time for a delicious plant-based lunch from Veggie Grill before starting the workshops.
Our first workshop was “Own Your Love Life Affirmation” with dating coach Carla Romo (@iamcarlaromo). We acknowledged the negative self-talk that was stopping us in our love lives and came up with positive affirmations to help us more forward. Next we learned about the “Formula for True Body Love” with Tessie Tracy (@tessietracy). Her tips included doing positive affirmations, seeking support, and practicing gratitude.
Our third workshop was “Lifestyled” with Catherine Sheppard (@thelifestyled), who taught us the power of a great outfit to make us feel like we can conquer anything. After a quick break, we were back with “The Wheel of Self Love + Life” workshop with Jessica Suchan (@bodyblissbyjess) and Ryan Burch (@ryeburch), where we learned how to take steps to finding balance and bliss.
During our next workshop, Lauren Breiding (@laurenbreiding), a Clean Living Consultant, talked about “Switching to Safer Products Through Finding Your Why.” She shared why you should pay attention to things like fragrances and parabens in your products. We ending the day with a moving meditation, “Move Into Body Love” with Rachel Mcclusky (@rachelrecharged).
