Salon Spotlight: Loft 647
Loft 647 in West Hollywood, California has quickly elevated the art of beauty through innovation and consciousness for the environment. The eco-chic hair salon has become a favorite among celebrities and A-list stars, and its impressive team of celebrity colorists and stylists create trendsetting, red carpet looks within the chic, spacious interior.
The other thing that sets Loft 647 apart from other places is its dedication to green efforts, offering sustainable ways to care for hair such as the use of Kangen Beauty Water and one-of-a-kind treatments—all while creating an atmosphere that celebrates the stardom in every individual, self-care, and green living with stylish plants that aren't just for decor.
We chatted with owner and celebrity hairstylist Cory Scott, who has created looks for Kamala Harris, Reese Witherspoon, Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Adele, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lawerence, Kirsten Dunst, Poppy Montgomery, Kate Hudson, and many others. He took us behind-the-scenes of the salon, giving us the inside scoop on what inspired the creation of Loft 647, services offered, and more:
When did Loft 647 open?
March 18, 2017.
Whats the meaning behind the name?
We were inspired by our location—the open airy space and the high ceilings where natural light pours in.
What inspired the opening of Loft 647?
We wanted to open a salon with purpose. Our mission statement is to reduce our carbon footprint as much as possible with style, to show that you don’t have to sacrifice any style to stay eco-conscious. Everything in the salon has purpose—from the wood we choose to the plants and the lights. It’s our very own ecosystem.
What services do you offer?
We offer a diverse range of hair services, including: precision cutting, blowouts and styling, balayage, single process color, extensions, protective and nourishing treatments, and more.
Which product lines do you work with and carry?
Currently we carry Kevin.Murphy and Davines. In the near future, we plan to offer Mr. Smith as well. Everything we carry and use is free of parabens and sulfates. Kevin.Murphy is very eco-conscious too, which we love.
Do you have other locations?
At the moment we only have one location here in West Hollywood. Who knows what the future may bring!
What do guests love about coming to Loft 647?
Their first initial reaction is to our ambiance—the height-exposed ceilings, the natural light, and the open layout of our space. We wanted a salon that didn’t feel like a salon necessarily. We strive for comfy, inviting, and always chic. Once our clients find out that we are a Green Circle Salon and the lengths we go to reduce our waste, they they are all about it.
Anything else we should know?
Education is always at the forefront of our minds; we have some in-house education planned for the near future. We also have new stylists joining our team, which is always exciting. And something that has become a tradition for is our L.A. Pride event. Since we are located smack dab in the middle of L.A. Pride festivities, we close the salon for the day, open up our courtyard, and invite our friends, families, and neighbors to join us for cocktails, dancing, and community.
